Flying
Banner

banner
For
the promotion of Bryce Courtney’s latest novel, Flinder’s
Cat, a giant 15 x 28 metre banner has been flying over Sydney
skies. Shaun Herbert, Managing Director of helicopter advertising
company Skylark, commented “These days, our clients
want their banners to feature full colour pictures. This demands
better quality printing that can best be achieved digitally.
The fast turnaround of digital printing is also an advantage.
A digitally printed banner will take only a few days from
the time of order to delivery, whereas embroidering methods
take about two weeks. Skylark has recently expanded into the
US market, which has a much higher volume of demands than
Australia. To keep up with this high demand we’re planning
on having all of our banners digitally printed.”

PhotoGlass™
Privacy Strips

We
worked with interior environment specialists, Geyer, to create
PhotoGlass™ privacy strips for the
meeting rooms of Brisbane Law firm, Nichols, Roberts &
Hallets. Nichols, Roberts & Hallets provided us with images
historically relevant to the firm, which we manipulated into
a suitable format for translucent PhotoGlass™.

Library
Shop Refurbishment

The
State Library of NSW recently refurbished their library shop
using PhotoGlass™ and Vutek self adhesive
vinyl onto columns. Dan Day, Senior Designer at the State
Library of NSW commented on his design objectives in saying
“The State Library is an extraordinary part of the fabric
of Sydney and, in a sense, the shop provides a real window
to its soul. I wanted to extend this idea, transforming the
original eclectic bookshop into a more inspiring space full
of light and room but with a strong sense of richness and
discovery that the Library itself represents. Flash Photobition
provided the means to treat the various graphic elements and
capture the vision perfectly.”

Cutting-edge
vinyl trends
A
vinyl cutter is able to profile cut vinyl to any shape. Traditionally,
this tool has been mostly used for lettering and simple shapes.
Recently, however, people are being much more adventurous.
This can be largely attributed to retrospective fashion trends,
such as floral prints and abstract fine lines, popping-up
on surfaces everywhere, from shop windows to office partitions,
from the bottom of skateboards to the sides of large boats.

Question:
Why do Kodak Duratrans cost more than inkjet backlits?
Answer:
Duratrans are made from a photographic emulsion whereas
inkjet media are made up of a base, coated with an ink receiving
layer. Far more intensive technology goes into creating a
photographic emulsion and the cost of the film is about double.
For short to medium term use inkjet backlits are a great cost
effective alternative. However, if you’re willing to
pay the extra money, Kodak Duratrans will give you a longer
lasting image with continuous tones.

Melbourne
Storm has been using our 3x4 Portable Architecture stands
for their media backdrops for almost four years. A key advantage
of using Portable Architecture is that the same stand can
have a different look year after year just by changing the
