After years of being ripped down, put down and ignored, wallpaper is back with a vengeance... and a difference. Custom wallpaper has opened a new realm of possibilities and it has become the hottest tool for using interior design to create and enhance the modern brand.

Custom wallpaper adds to the atmosphere at the Clock

The upstairs bar and restaurant at The Clock Hotel in Sydney’s Surry Hills recently underwent a major refurbishment. Rosi Hebel, Operations Manager at Solotel, says that they were after a relaxed and funky feel. When Rosi spied colourEverything’s stand at DesignEx she said “I’ve got to have it!” Rosi says that the wallpaper design has provided a new platform on which they can build The Clock’s brand. “It’s a very visually appealing design and it will allow us to build a brand around it in a way that a logo cannot.” Flexible and innovative production capabilities allowed the wallpaper design to be used on the invitations for the relaunch of the hotel. Check out the finished result at 470 Crown St, Surry Hills, Sydney.

ColourEverything has recently launched five new collections in their range of wallpaper, mural paper, window film, fabric and ready to hang artworks. Take a look at www.coloureverything.com.au

Flinders Hotel adds subtle style with ‘Revamp’ wallpaper

Lauren Babula’s winning wallpaper design from the Flash Wallpaper Design Competition not only impressed the Flash judges but also Quattro Design, interior designers of Sydney’s Flinders Street Hotel refurbishment. Lauren’s design, “Revamp”, taken from period pieces and re-interpreted for modern use, has been used on the walls and also adapted to clear graphics and beer coasters. The use of the unique design gives the hotel a subtle common theme throughout, building their brand in a unique yet unobtrusive way. If you’re in the area, drop in for a drink and experience it for yourself at 63 – 65 Flinders St, Darlinghurst, Sydney.

Paris comes to Miranda at DelaFrance Westfield

DelaFrance is a chain of boutique bakery cafes that manufacture authentic French bakery products in accordance with the original recipes. When franchise owner of DelaFrance at Westfield Miranda in Sydney, Andrew Iali, recently undertook a refurbishment, wallpaper was used to enhance the French allure of the store. The design featured Paris streets and the Eiffel Tower and created a more authentic feel to the environment that perfectly complemented the authentic tastes of the delicious French pastries.

Bras n Things show their stripes

Bras n Things Visual Merchandiser, Heidi Findley, approached Flash in early 2003 to produce striped wallpaper that would enhance their new store concept. The aim of the wallpaper was to create a new level of recognition and reinforce the brand of the well-known retail chain. The wallpaper can also be customised. When refurbishing their flagship store in Melbourne’s Bourke St, the stripes were adapted to an ivory colour to generate ongoing recognition with a point of difference.

Over 20 stores have already undergone the makeover, which was developed as a roll out with a very simple production process. Firstly a purchase order with wall sizes is faxed, then it is printed and dispatched to the relevant store for the shop fitter to install. Voila!
