Peter Sexty, Graphic Design
The Circle on Cavill display centre, located on the Gold Coast, has been created with bold colour and larger than life graphics. The display suite features a 5 x 5.5 metre image of the buildings printed on Artex, an arcade of metallic lambda prints mounted onto a kaleidoscope of angled Perspex, a giant 9 metre LightWall and two layered walls of metallic lambda prints face-mounted onto glass.
Peter Sexty, graphic designer of the display centre, comments on the project in saying, "Flash was of great assistance in offering new materials and constantly pushing the boundaries of what could be achieved. A great team where nothing was a problem. What a refreshing change, especially considering the deadline."
15 March – 18 May 2003 National Portrait Gallery, Old Parliament House

The National Portrait Gallery’s current POL: Portrait of a Generation exhibition includes photographs featured in the imaginative and original POL magazine, which carried the best work of an era of Australian photographers from 1969 to 1986.

Because many of the original photographs were not available for reproduction, we had to scan most of the images directly from the magazines. This process has been an excellent opportunity to create a digital archive of POL’s photographs for future generations to enjoy.

Hoyts, Eastland, Melbourne & Hoyts, Eastgardens, Sydney:
Gray Puksand and Ideaworks

In a recent interior revamp, we collaborated with architects, Gray Puksand, and retail ideas specialists, Ideaworks, to transform the interior spaces of Hoyts, Eastgardens, Sydney and Eastland, Melbourne. The brief was to step away from the tired and traditional concept of the 20s and 30s Hollywood chintz.

Featuring several hundred square metres of colourful, opaque Digital Drapes and matching Digital Wallpaper, the re-design has modernised the space and transformed it into one that inspires people to want to spend more time meeting and relaxing before and after the movies.

We are giving away 5 double passes to see a movie at either Hoyts, Eastland, Melbourne or Hoyts, Eastgardens, Sydney, where you can check out the new décor. To enter, send an email to jillian.nalty@flash.com.au

Q: Can I paint on top of your printed artist canvas?

A: Because we use artist’s grade canvas, acrylic or oil paint can be applied as normal. Artists requiring several original artworks can save time by printing the foundation of each painting onto canvas, which can then be painted over. If you paint from photographs, you can improve the accuracy of your paintings and eliminate the frustration of drawing perspective, proportion and scaling by first printing the photograph directly onto the canvas.
