Simulating
Environments
Sydney
based boutique design company, Box Communications are the
creators of a stunning new marketing suite for the Pavilion
Lands Arena development. The new apartment complex is
to be situated in Rockdale, Sydney. The largely, graphic-based
marketing suite utilises a wide range of Flash Photobition
materials that simulate the atmosphere and environment of
the new development.
At
the main entrance, branding is made clear by a bold Arena
logo printed on self-adhesive Vutek vinyl. When the visitor
enters the suite, they are immediately aware of the developments
title and distinctive style. Brand recognition is increasingly
important in areas such as St George, where apartment development
is booming.
Mounted
onto the two side walls are rendered 3D images of the development,
which have been printed by our photographic quality Durst
Lambda printer. The 3D images look crisp and clear, reflective
of the developments overall style.
Feelings
of tranquillity and freshness are suggested by images of trees
printed on translucent PhotoMesh drapes. These run along
the main passage of the suite, surrounding the visitor as
walking into the centre of the room.
Also
made from PhotoMesh is an 11.2 m one-way vision room
divider, draped in front of the administration area of the
suite. The administration area is hidden, however staff are
still able to see who is walking through the door.
The
suite looks sleek, professional and most importantly, its
functional.

3D
Graphics - High resolution technology now available
The technology for high resolution, high impact 3D graphics
has finally arrived! By using new Lenticular Lens technology,
we are now able to combine the vibrant colour and crispness
you would expect from Flash Photobition with an amazing third
dimension that leaps right out at you.

Were
expecting this new product to be popular with those that are
finding their industry congested with visually based marketing.
3D images are the eye grabbing edge many advertisers, shop
fitters and interior designers are seeking.
Also
available are Lenticular Flip Lenses that flip between two
images as the viewing angle is changed. Flip Lenses can be
used for large scale billboards, indoor signs or small cards.
3D graphics
and Flip graphics are now on display in our Sydney showroom.
However, if youre unable to visit, get in touch and
well have a consultant come to you.

Art,
Furniture and Digital Technology
The Colosseatum, by artist and furniture maker William McMahon,
is a synthesis of emerging digital imaging technology, and
new techniques, materials and forms in furniture modelling.
Based on architecture built for entertainment and leisure
two millennia ago, the Colosseatum is a fascinating echo of
the ancient function of the Colosseum in a modern piece of
furniture.
Digital
imaging technology is opening up whole new vistas for expressing
the world through a wide range of mediums, one of which is
printing on soft fabrics. McMahon scanned and manipulated
sixteen holiday snaps of the Colosseum to create a single
scaled picture. The image was digitally printed on 3 metre
wide poly-cotton by Flash Photobitions Vutek printer.
Vutek digital printing is emerging as a leading technique
for customised furniture upholstery printing. The poly-cotton
fabric is a great material to work with and the durable inks
generate the long-lived colour crispness required. Unlike
traditional methods of fabric printing, such as screen-printing
or tumble-printing, the digital Vutek printer is ready for
output straight from a digital file.
McMahon
says, Its extremely satisfying to be able to complete
such a whimsical project to such a high standard of finish.
With a number of similar projects in mind I think, for me
at least, the future of furniture is in ruins.
The Colosseatum
was produced for Brisbane City Gallerys 21st Century
Chair Exhibition to be held from the 15th August to the 13th
October 2002. The opening of the exhibition will take place
at 6 pm on Thursday 15th August, at Brisbane City Gallery,
situated in Brisbane City Town Hall (off King George Square).
The evening will be kicked off with jazz
and Champaign in the foyer, music will be provided by Tyrone
Noonan from George. From 7 pm music featuring Ambient Electronica
by Andrew Stockwell will be playing.
If
youd like to come along RSVP the Brisbane City Council
one week prior to the event on bcgca3@brisbane.qld.gov.au
or phone:
(07) 3403 8888.
