Brisbane bids for the 2011 World Championships in Athletics For the 2011 World Championships in Athletics bid Brisbane prepared for an intense two day visit by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Evaluation Team. To prepare for the visit the QE2 Stadium was decked out in some spectacular signage. In the entrance a semi-permanent structure was built to hold a light weight mesh billboard to impress the arriving delegates.
The stadiums 17x10 metre scoreboard was transformed into a billboard by a vinyl wrap.
We also created matching 5metre x 250mm stadium seat cushions just to make sure of the comfort for the evaluation team! The (IAAF) Evaluation Team said that they were impressed by what they saw and believed that Brisbane was ready to host a premier sports event. Of course, Athletics Australia and the Queensland Government think the same.
